Material Change of Use

Generally, this term applies to premises when you: 

  • start of a new use of the premises; or
  • re-establish on your premises a use that has been abandoned; or
  • significantly increase the intensity or scale of the use of the premises; or

It also applies to environmentally relevant activities.

“Premises” means a building or other structure and/or land.

The legal definitions of "Premises" and “Material Change of Use” are in SCHEDULE 2 - DICTIONARY of the Planning Act 2016.
