Rockets and romance in the Goondiwindi region

The Goondiwindi region takes its turn as an unexpected love location.  It is all thanks to Brisbane radio station, hit105 sending an engagement rock on a rocket up to space to create a once in a lifetime proposal for a lucky couple.  The Out of this World proposal, is possible with the help of Australian Rocketry team who hosted Thunda Down Under in our region earlier this year.

Three couples are eagerly awaiting to see if they will be the lucky duo to receive the $20,000 Xennox Diamond ring.

To send the rocket up to space, Stav, Abby & Matt from hit105 breakfast show, will be road tripping to ‘Funny Farm’, 45 minutes out of Goondiwindi.

During the radio station’s road trip out west, they will also be meeting up with a few local farmers to discuss the impact of drought.

The radio station asked Goondiwindi region mayor Graeme Scheu to take to the airways to help listeners learn a little more about the region, Graeme says ‘I stayed in Brisbane for the weekend after the interview and cannot believe the play it got. I’ve had a stack of calls from different people about my interview.’

‘Spending money in regional towns is one of the best ways to help during these tough times,’ he said.  ‘I recommended to the radio crew and listeners that a roadtrip from Brisbane through Warwick, and then on to the Texas Rabbit Works, the Inglewood Tobacco Museum, with a stop at the Yelarbon silos, before spending the night in Goondiwindi would be a great way to explore the region.’

Whilst Council is not financially supporting this event, we are proud to promote the launch, to encourage tourism and cement the Goondiwindi region name in the aerospace industry.

The rocket launch itself is a private event.
