Community groups: it’s now even easier to access funding!

« Back

A new online grants platform has been launched that will make it even easier for community groups in the Goondiwindi region to access funding opportunities.

The new system from Goondiwindi Regional Council will allow groups to lodge their funding applications online from the Council website.

Funding sources available on the online system include Council's Community Grants and Donations Program, the Tourism Event Grant and the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).

The new online system comes alongside an update to Council’s Community Grants and Donations Policy.

Changes to the policy include new timelines for applications. Grant applications ($450 or more) must be lodged at least eight weeks prior to commencement of the project; donation applications (up to $450) must be lodged at least 30 days prior to commencement of the project.

Applications that do not meet this timeline cannot be accepted.

Council’s Director of Community and Corporate Services Jason Quinnell said he strongly encouraged community groups to plan for their project or event well in advance and to submit their applications early.

“The key message is that the online application will be much easier to complete and in most cases you should receive a response much faster,” Mr Quinnell said.

“Submitting the application early means your timelines won’t be affected if your application is required to be tabled at an Ordinary Meeting, held monthly,” he said.

Council funds more than 100 community groups in the Goondiwindi region each year. In 2018-19, those groups received a total of more than $340,000 in funding through Council’s funding programs.

“If you need help with your application or run into issues with the online system, you can contact Council and a Council officer will assist you with your application,” Mr Quinnell said.
