COVID-19 Update 6

« Back

In line with new restrictions announced by the Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Goondiwindi Regional Council wishes to advise residents of the following changes to the region’s Queensland border, effective 00:01AM Friday 3 April 2020:

  • The Inglewood Texas Road and the Newell Highway (Goondiwindi), via the Queensland Police Service checkpoints, will become the ONLY road entry points into the region across the Queensland border;
  • All other entry points into the region that cross the Queensland border will be blocked to any vehicle access.

From Friday, all interstate tourists will be refused entry into Queensland. Exemptions will still apply for residents of border towns.  It is important for both Queensland and New South Wales border residents to note that you MUST now have a border pass prior to crossing the border.

You can apply for a border pass online at www.qld.gov.au/border-pass.

All residents of the Goondiwindi region should familiarise themselves with the latest health advice from Queensland Health. In the current circumstances, it is absolutely essential that residents practise proper social distancing and hygiene practices, including frequent and proper hand washing, and staying at home.
