Free workshop tomorrow to help small businesses in Goondiwindi region to secure $10k COVID-19 Grant

Goondiwindi Regional Council is encouraging small businesses in the Goondiwindi region to give themselves the best chance of securing funding through the Queensland Government’s Small Business COVID-19 Adaption Grant Program by attending a free online workshop tomorrow [Friday 22 May].

The COVID-19 Adaption Grant is up to a maximum of $10,000 per eligible small or micro business that has been significantly impacted by COVID-19. The workshop will guide participants step-by-step through the application process and will also include more general tips and tricks for successful grant-writing.

The workshop is part of Goondiwindi Regional Council’s Regional Skills Investment Strategy (RSIS) project and will be hosted at 3.30 pm by Julia Spicer of Engage and Create Consulting.

It will primarily be delivered online via webinar, however there is limited seating available at the Council Chambers – participants who wish to attend in person should register their interest ASAP through the link below.

With 27% of the Grant’s available funds already requested, Council’s CEO Carl Manton said interested businesses need to make application a priority.

“The COVID-19 Adaption Grant is a huge opportunity for small businesses who have had to close or otherwise been highly impacted by the Coronavirus,” Mr Manton said.

“The funding can go towards a range of things that will help businesses adapt and keep operating, from strategic planning and financial counselling through to capital costs associated with meeting COVID-19 SAFE requirements or adapting to include online sales. It can also go towards simply meeting business costs, including utilities and rent, so I would strongly encourage all impacted small businesses in the region to apply.

“The workshop tomorrow will offer extremely experienced guidance and put businesses in the best position for a successful application, so I would really advise them to make the most of this opportunity,” Mr Manton said.

The Goondiwindi Regional Skills Investment Strategy (RSIS) project is a two-year initiative between Goondiwindi Regional Council and the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training.
