The Cultivating Community Champions Leadership Program is a collaborative effort between Goondiwindi Regional Council and the Goondiwindi Chamber of Commerce (COC) aimed at elevating community leadership by enhancing the skills and confidence of participants.

The objective of the program is to give candidates the abilities and poise to step into leadership roles by increasing their self-awareness and building relationship skills, articulating ideas and concerns, and understanding regional issues and opportunities.

The Program, facilitated by Jo Eady from RuralScope, will run over 3 months offering two face-to-face workshops in Goondiwindi and Texas along with one-on-one mentoring sessions online.

Director and Lead Consultant, Jo Eady, prides herself in developing and facilitating initiatives with no barrier to participation, ensuring inclusion and diversity in a safe setting.

“Since the year 2000, we have supported, challenged and inspired leaders through thousands of programs, workshops and, coaching and mentoring partnerships,” Ms Eady said.

“These programs are designed to empower individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to become effective leaders and agents for change within the community.”

This initiative was jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements after COC were successful in securing funding under the Flexible Funding Grant system.

The aim of the funding arrangements is to drive recovery and resilience in communities impacted by the Central, Southern and Western Queensland Rainfall and Flooding, Ex TC Seth SEQ Rainfall and Flooding, and Southern Queensland Flooding events.

Mayor of the Goondiwindi Regional Council the Honourable Cr Lawrence Springborg AM said this program aims to develop and support emerging leaders in our regional community and I encourage people to apply for this wonderful opportunity.

“Investing in our upcoming leaders who are committed to building a better future is essential to the long-term success and sustainability of our regional community.

“I want to thank the organisers of this program for their dedication and commitment to building a better future and I look forward to seeing the positive impacts these emerging leaders will have on the region to come,” Cr Springborg said.

COC President Peter Travers said that this program would provide valuable training and resources to individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the region.

“By equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively navigate the challenges facing the region, we can ensure that our community remains strong, resilient, and prosperous,” Mr Travers said.
