Goondiwindi Regional Council and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) will host the Inglewood Emergency Services Day this Saturday 27 May at the MacIntyre Sports Complex, Chilcott Street, Inglewood.

The free event offers residents a unique chance to get an up-close and personal look at the specialised vehicles and equipment utilised by local emergency services groups in the region.

Demonstrations throughout the day include a bushfire and kitchen fire simulation, a car accident demonstration and more.

Mayor of the Goondiwindi Region, the Honourable Lawrence Springborg AM said these presentations show how indebted we are to our emergency services and the work they carry out.

Throughout the day, local emergency service crews will be available to answer questions residents may have. This interactive opportunity allows attendees to engage directly with the volunteers and professionals to gain valuable insights into their roles and responsibilities.

There will also be recruitment activities to explore potential opportunities and pathways within the emergency services.

Children can participate in Get Ready Queensland activities. These activities promote the importance of emergency preparedness in a playful and educational manner with the aim of instilling a sense of awareness in the younger generation, ensuring they are equipped with valuable knowledge and skills.

Cr Springborg will be speaking at the event and said the day provides a valuable opportunity for residents to gain insight into the tireless efforts and commitment demonstrated by the local emergency services in our communities on a daily basis and in the event of a disaster.

“The message behind the event is about being prepared if a disaster were to occur and to encourage residents to know the relevant support agencies.”

The day will feature demonstrations, volunteers and officers from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES), Rural Fire Service (RFS), Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), Queensland State Emergency Service (SES) and Queensland Police Service (QPS), as well as local hospital staff.

The Inglewood Emergency Services day will be an opportunity for residents to expand their knowledge and understanding of the vital roles these groups play in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
