$54,500 in Funding for Local Arts and Culture Up for Grabs
Published on 15 August 2024
Goondiwindi Regional Council is excited to announce funding for the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) for the upcoming 2024-25 year. Thanks to a generous grant of $31,500 from Arts Queensland, combined with Council's contribution of $23,000, the total RADF pool now stands at $54,500.
Councillor Phil O'Shea, the portfolio holder for Health, Ageing, Arts, and Culture, expressed his enthusiasm for the expanded funding and its potential impact on the community.
This increase in funding will enable us to support a wider variety of arts and cultural activities in our region. We are particularly excited about reintroducing rounds and due dates for RADF grants in 2024, which will help streamline the application process and ensure merit assessments to support our local artists and community groups.
For the 2024-25 year, RADF will have three rounds of funding:
- Round 1: Closes 30 September 2024, with $17,000 available.
- Round 2: Closes 31 January 2025, with $17,000 available.
- Round 3: Closes 1 June 2025, with $20,500 available.
RADF is open to community groups, individuals, and businesses, and it encourages all residents to start their applications early to take full advantage of the available funds. The previous year's RADF supported many projects, including Texas has Talent workshops, Inglewood Children's Theatre Bootcamp, and NAIDOC activities at Goondiwindi State School. Upcoming events already funded by the previous RADF include the Goondiwindi Creative Getaway, Goondiwindi Regional Libraries regional writers workshops, and a Queensland Ballet regional tour.
“We place a high value on training and workshops that build local capacity, as well as funding travel and accommodation costs that our counterparts in metropolitan areas do not face. Our goal is to make arts and culture not just available, but accessible to all residents, regardless of their location or financial situation," Cr O'Shea added.
