Goondiwindi Regional Council will introduce revised standard Saturday operating hours for the Goondiwindi Civic Centre, with the facility open from 9am and closing at 12pm instead of 1pm from Saturday, 24 October 2026.

Councillor Susie Kelly, Community Facilities portfolio holder, said the change followed a review of operational requirements, cost effectiveness and service demand.

"The revised Saturday hours align more closely with other businesses and the activity levels in the town centre, where customer demand reduces after midday,” Cr Kelly said.

"Council regularly reviews its services to ensure they continue to meet community needs while delivering value for money.”

The Goondiwindi Civic Centre is home to the Goondiwindi Visitor Information Centre, Customer Service team, Library and Art Space, providing a range of services for residents and visitors.

Council consulted with Goondiwindi Visitor Information Centre volunteers prior to making the decision and has been working to ensure visitors continue to have access to tourism information outside operating hours.

"Council greatly values the contribution of our Visitor Information Centre volunteers and appreciates their input during this process," Cr Kelly said.

"To support visitors when the Centre is closed, tourism brochures and information will continue to be available from the brochure display located near the entrance to the public amenities, while comprehensive visitor information remains accessible online at any time," Cr Kelly said.

The revised operating hours will take effect from Saturday, 24 October 2026.

The change applies only to the Civic Centre and will not impact the operating hours of the Goondiwindi Cinema, nor the public toilet amenities at the site.
