“The recent announcement that the Queensland Government's Community Cabinet will be held in Goondiwindi on 30 and 31 August is excellent news.  Community Cabinet provides a valuable opportunity for residents in our region to engage directly with the Premier, Ministers and senior government officials,” said the Mayor of Goondiwindi Regional Council, the Honourable Cr Lawrence Springborg AM.

“I thank the Premier, David Crisafulli, for quickly and enthusiastically responding to my invitation to host a Community Cabinet meeting in Goondiwindi.

“Community Cabinet is an important forum that brings government decision-makers into regional communities to listen, learn and better understand local priorities, while also allowing us to showcase our region’s strengths and contributions to Queensland’s economy and liveability.

“There will be many important conversations during the visit, including discussions around road infrastructure, cross-border challenges, government regulation and planning for the future growth, development and investment in our region.

“Goondiwindi and the wider region continue to face both challenges and opportunities, and this visit enables our community to raise issues directly with those responsible for shaping government policy and investment decisions.

“I thank the member for Southern Downs, Mr James Lister MP, for his support of Council in bringing the upcoming Community Cabinet to the Goondiwindi Region.

“We look forward to welcoming the Premier, Ministers and senior officials to Goondiwindi and demonstrating the innovation, pride and potential that defines our region,” said the Mayor.

Registrations expected to be opened by the Queensland government in early August 2026.  Community members can find out more about Community Cabinet via the Premier’s website - Community Cabinet | qld.gov.au

Mayor Springborg encourages residents, businesses and community organisations to take advantage of this opportunity.

“This is a significant opportunity for our region, and I am confident our community will embrace the chance to help shape our future.”
