Goondiwindi CBD Streetscape project

Council has commenced the next phase of the Goondiwindi CBD Streetscape project.

During consultations to date, you have shared many ideas, including improving pedestrian safety, enhancing shade and landscaping, providing easier access for prams and people with mobility needs, maintaining parking, retaining character, replacing palm trees, and more. These ideas have helped shape what we're now proposing.

Preliminary Designs are available now – Have your say!

The preliminary design(PDF, 16MB) is with the community for consultation.  The preliminary design is intended to illustrate what the community wants, and we are aiming for—it is not a final design. Your feedback now is crucial because it will help us refine the design before moving ahead to detailed designs and cost options.

Why This Matters

Our CBD has served us well for many years and has received many compliments; however, some parts are showing their age. Having a comprehensive forward plan also allows us to consider future needs and designs when maintaining or replacing existing infrastructure and landscaping. To ensure Goondiwindi remains known as a clean, tidy, welcoming, and proud community, we need to plan now. We want a streetscape that reflects our town's character, is practical in meeting both current and future needs, and is a space that locals can take pride in.

What’s Next

Your feedback now is crucial because it will help us refine the design before moving ahead to detailed designs and cost options.

Council will deliver parts of the plan in the short term; other elements will form part of a staged program over many years. This long-term vision ensures that our streetscape will continue to evolve and improve, ensuring Goondiwindi continues to be a great place to live and work and visit. Many improvements depend on external funding and phased investment, but we are committed to seeing this vision through.
