Council Invites Locals to Fly High in Free Drone Photography Workshop

Goondiwindi Regional Council is excited to announce a specialised drone photography workshop designed to equip locals with the skills to make the most of their drones, including capture stunning aerial images. The workshop is set for 7 November 2024 at Coolmunda Olives, Inglewood.
Renowned rural photography and drone expert, Fiona Lake will lead the workshop, sharing her insights and practical tips.
There are two components to the training with Ms Lake covering topics such as camera settings, licencing and regulations, and drone flying fundamentals in the first half of the day, following by a focus on drone photography in the afternoon. The workshop has been designed to be interactive, with participants encouraged to contribute to the discussion with questions and their own stories.
“We are thrilled to offer this opportunity for our community to learn about the exciting field of drone photography,” said Councillor Phil O’Shea, Council’s portfolio holder for arts and culture. “Drones have the ability to showcase the beauty of our region, but also can be used to capture valuable information for farming operations or even in the event of natural disaster.”
Ms Lake, a seasoned drone and rural photographer with extensive experience in delivering drone workshops for rural property owners along with her ability to capture stunning aerial imagery. Her work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions, showcasing her talent and passion for the craft.
“We are fortunate to have Fiona Lake leading this workshop,” Councillor O’Shea said. “Her expertise and knowledge will provide participants with invaluable insights into the world of drone photography, that is certainly difficult to find anywhere else.”
The workshop is supported by joint funding from the Australian and Queensland Governments’ Community Recovery and Resilience program under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
