Australian Citizenship

Council is the last link in the application process.

Once your application for citizenship has been approved from the Department of Home Affairs, arrangements will be made for you to attend a citizenship ceremony where you will make the Pledge. A citizenship ceremony is usually held within six (6) to eight (8) months of hearing about your approval. Making the Pledge is the final legal requirement in becoming an Australian citizen. The Mayor of Goondiwindi Regional Council has been delegated the authority to confer your citizenship.

Applications for Citizenship can be completed online or downloaded from the Department of Home Affairs website. For more information on Australian Citizenship call the Citizenship Information Line on 131 881.
