Goondiwindi Regional Council wishes to advise all residents of the following information conveyed during a teleconference between the Premier of Queensland Annastacia Palaszczuk and the State’s Mayors this afternoon:

As of Friday 3 April 2020, any interstate traveller who attempts to cross the State border will be denied entry, unless they are exempt (exemptions continue to apply to border residents for more information visit https://www.qld.gov.au/about/newsroom/queensland-border-restrictions);
There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Goondiwindi region. However, there are recorded cases across the Darling Downs. The closest cases to our region are in Inverell, Miles, Toowoomba and Warwick;
All Queensland residents must use the services of their nearest business centre ONLY, unless absolutely necessary. This means no trips to Toowoomba or Warwick etc. unless it is essential;
Any residents who feel unwell or are symptomatic of any illness must stay at home.

As per the latest guidelines from the Australian Government, residents are reminded that any public gathering is limited to a maximum of two people (not including members of the same household). This includes both indoor and outdoor instances, such as when exercising.

All residents of the Goondiwindi region should familiarise themselves with the latest health advice from Queensland Health. In the current circumstances, it is absolutely essential that residents practise proper social distancing and hygiene practices, including frequent and proper hand washing.
