GOONDIWINDI REGION COVID-19 UPDATE – 7 NOVEMBER 2021

« Back

Queensland Health has this morning [Sunday 7 November 2021] confirmed that there are no new COVID-19 cases recorded in Goondiwindi overnight.

Queensland’s Acting Chief Health Officer Dr Peter Aitken again congratulated the Goondiwindi region on their hard word in achieving our high vaccination rates, which continues to protect not only our community, but Queensland.

It has also been confirmed by Queensland Health that yesterdays positive case in Goondiwindi was not infectious in the community.

Goondiwindi Mayor, the Honourable Cr Lawrence Springborg AM said No new cases overnight is certainly welcome news.

I would like to highlight to our border community, that the tighter Border Restrictions Directive that came into effect on Saturday morning [6 November 2021], does permit a small number of reasons people can cross the border unvaccinated.  One of the reasons is to access medical care, including a SCHEDULED COVID-19 vaccination which they cannot reasonably get in New South Wales.  This means the person will need evidence of booking at the border check point.

For further information about the restricted zone and a list of comprehensive FAQs, visit Queensland Health website - Travelling to Queensland | Health and wellbeing | Queensland Government (www.qld.gov.au)

I am also pleased to confirm that the general public are temporarily (until further notice) able to access the vaccination clinic at the Goondiwindi Showgrounds.  It is open from 6am to 10pm, including today, for anyone over the age of 12.  No appointment required, and I urge anyone still yet to get vaccinated to make the most of this additional vaccination clinic.

I remind residents that if you have any symptoms, no matter how mild, please get tested.”

Testing at Goondiwindi Hospital requires you to call ahead on 4578 2400, bring your phone charger, water, and medications - there may be a wait.  Testing is available from 8am -4:30pm, but if you need emergency care and you have COVID-19 symptoms call ahead for assistance.  For additional testing locations, visit: www.qld.gov.au/covid19testing
