The Goondiwindi Region will welcome more than fifty 40 Series Land Cruisers to the Showgrounds this week marking the launch of the Long Drive For Drought 2023 and ‘Flanno for a Farmer’ day this Friday [25 August].

The event will raise money for the Drought Angels, a registered charity that extends its support not only within the Goondiwindi Region but across the nation. Drought Angels have been a reliable support for farmers facing droughts, wildfires, floods, and other challenges for many years. Their efforts have also been instrumental in linking farmers with services and support networks in times of need.

Mayor of the Goondiwindi Region, the Honourable Cr Lawrence Springborg AM said he is proud to support the event through Council's Community Grants and Donation program.

“I’d like to thank the Rotary Club Goondiwindi and the Goondiwindi Pastoral and Agricultural Society for ensuring the comfort and smooth operations for all the participants involved in the Long Drive for Drought,” Cr Springborg said.

Peak Services, a subsidiary of the Local Government Association of Queensland, is a partner to The Long Drive for Drought, aligning with their commitment to enhancing community well-being and liveability across Queensland as they focus on the needs of Queensland councils.

All residents from across the region are invited to the Goondiwindi Showgrounds at 7 am for a LIVE channel 7 Sunrise experience. Event organisers are encouraging all to wear a flannelette shirt in support of this fundraising campaign.

The eight-day Long Drive for Drought will continue west, before spending the final night at Birdsville for the legendary races.
