Goondiwindi Regional Council would like to inform community organisations and individuals that submissions are again open for the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) 2023-24 Program.

RADF grants assist in the development and support of arts and cultural activities throughout the Goondiwindi Region. This year, Council contributed $23,000 to the RADF Program and the Queensland Government Arts Queensland $24,250, making it one of the largest available local RADF fund pools in the region’s history.

Councillor Phil O'Shea who holds the portfolio for Health, Ageing, Arts and Culture and is a member of the RADF committee, said we urge local community groups and event organisers to submit their applications as soon as possible, with applications already being processed, funds are limited.

"Whether you are an artist, photographer, or have a great event or workshop idea – this funding is a wonderful opportunity, and I would really encourage everyone to get their applications in early to avoid disappointment,” said Cr O'Shea. “Youth development, improved social connections, and community exposure to unique art and cultural activities are also key drivers for RADF funding.”

Expressing the important role RADF funding plays in developing, promoting, and progressing arts and cultural events within the region, Mayor of Goondiwindi Regional Council, the Honourable Councillor Lawrence Springborg AM, said, "RADF funding provides a valuable opportunity to support the role and the value of arts and culture in our region – especially for tourism, which is one of Council’s key priorities, to bring visitors to our region.”

This financial support is open to eligible organisations and individuals residing in the Goondiwindi Regional Council area, who meet the RADF guidelines.  The focus is on capacity building and providing opportunities for locals to learn whether this be through workshops, mentoring or even professional development out of region.

Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said the Queensland Government’s successful, long-term partnership with local governments through the Regional Arts Development Fund supports the delivery of hundreds of arts experiences, employment opportunities and capacity building for arts and cultural workers across the state.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthen local communities and drive economic outcomes through arts and culture, the Queensland Government has provided $2.184 million for RADF 2023-24 to 59 local councils who have contributed a co-investment of $1.979 million,” Minister Enoch said.

Previous recipients of RADF funding include Lanescape, Inglewood Children’s Theatre, and Texas Festival of Small Halls. These artesian events showcase the program's commitment to developing regional skills, building cultural capacity and tourism, and supporting arts-based health and well-being projects while strengthening the local arts and culture community in the Goondiwindi region.
