As part of their ongoing natural disaster recovery and resilience activities in the region, Goondiwindi Regional Council is pleased to announce an upcoming Stand Up Comedy Workshop for children aged 10 to 16 years, set to take place January 15 at the Goondiwindi Cinema and Theatre. This event, hosted by renowned comedian Anthony Lamond, promises a blend of comedy, personal growth and confidence building for local young comedians.

Anthony Lamond, with over 15 years’ experience and a comedy repertoire that includes sharing the stage with comedy legends such as Dave Hughes, Pete Hellier and Arj Barker, has developed an engaging workshop specially focused on building resilience, teamwork and everyday confidence of pre-teen and teenagers.

Councillor Phil O’Shea, Council’s portfolio holder for Arts and Culture, expressed excitement about the event.

“We are delighted to bring such a unique and enriching experience to our young community members. The stand-up comedy workshop goes beyond comedy – it is about empowering our youth, fostering essential life skills, and creating an environment where they can thrive.

Laughter truly is a universal language, and we are eager to see the positive impact it will have on the young participants,” he said.

Participants in the workshop will have the opportunity to learn from Anthony Lamond's wealth of experience, develop their comedic skills, and gain valuable insights into the world of entertainment. The workshop includes a Graduation Performance, allowing participants family and friends to showcase their newfound talents.
