The Macintyre Sports Complex field lights project will kick off on Monday, 12 February. The project aims to improve player and spectator visibility in times of low light by installing new 100-lux lights and structural poles.

In addition to the new lights the work will also include realigning the football field to run parallel to the clubhouse, installing a new scoreboard, new sleeves for the repositioned goal posts, and relocation of fencing to ensure the safety of both athletes and spectators.

Goondiwindi Regional Council urges community groups and residents to pay attention to any signage regarding access points and potential hazards at the site.

Safety remains a top priority, and Council is committed to ensuring the contractors and community members are safe as construction activities progress.

Council is proud to support local contractors like Texas Bobcat, SMK Qld, and Laser Electrical in delivering this project.

The project is expected to be finalised by the end of March 2024, weather permitting, providing Inglewood with a high-quality facility that sporting clubs and the community can enjoy.

The Queensland Government provided $159,630 to Goondiwindi Regional Council to upgrade the existing lights at the Macintyre Sports Complex oval to enable Queenslanders to participate in sports and recreation activities.

Council extends their gratitude to the Inglewood Roosters, winners of the BRL 2023, who played an integral part in the consultation and adoption of a masterplan for the Macintyre Sports Complex. During the consultation process, valuable input from several community organisations was taken into consideration, including the junior rugby league teams, the Western Clydesdales, and Inglewood Social Sports.
