Free Building Community Wellbeing workshop series to equip businesses and staff with tools to support their community

« Back
  • A free ‘Building Community Wellbeing’ workshop series is available for business owners and community members
  • The 90 minute workshop series will be facilitated by Chantal Corish, the Rural Psychologist and held from February to May in Goondiwindi, Inglewood, and Texas
  • Participants will learn to recognise mental stress in themselves and others, gain practical skills in how to respond and how to look after themselves and the community

Goondiwindi Regional Council is proud to partner with the Rural Psychologist, Chantal Corish, to present the ‘Building Community Wellbeing,’ a series of free workshops focused on building thriving communities from within. With a focus on business owners and staff who regularly interact with the public, these interactive sessions equip individuals with the tools and knowledge to respond to clients and customers experiencing challenges, and to create vibrant, supportive, and mentally healthy workplace environments.

“These workshops are more than just self-care tips,” Mrs Corish explains. “Our local businesses like hairdressers and accountants are often the first to spot a local that is not coping.  These sessions are about providing the tools and confidence to respond and support our community.  The sessions aim to build the key ingredients for community wellbeing, contributing to the vibrancy and liveability of our towns.

“You will walk away with the skills and confidence to help someone should they need assistance, as well have the ability to put some tools in place to maintain your own mental health.”

The series consists of three workshops in each of Goondiwindi, Texas, and Inglewood. The first workshop looks at assisting participants to discover the secrets to strong social connections, understand how to recognise and assist those experiencing mental stress, and explore effective ways to nurture a thriving community spirit.

In workshop two, participants will learn valuable self-care strategies to combat burnout and boost resilience, explore the link between personal well-being and community leadership, and discover tools to navigate life's challenges with greater ease.

In the final workshop, participants will develop skills to lead effectively with empathy and mindfulness, learn to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all, and gain insights on fostering mental health awareness and support within your community.

Each town will host all three workshops (details below), and everyone is welcome to attend one, two or all three sessions across the program.

Council sees supporting in business and community wellbeing as an investment in our future, and this program will offer valuable tools and insights that empower individuals to make a positive impact on themselves and those around them.
