A $90,000 upgrade paves the way across two footpaths in Inglewood

« Back

Goondiwindi Regional Council has received $90,000 in funding from the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland (W4Q) program to upgrade sections of the footpath network in Inglewood.

The upgrade will focus on Albert Street, starting from the Community Health Service Centre and extending approximately 100 metres west. Another section of the street, located at the corner of Elizabeth and Albert Street, at The Royal Hotel, will also undergo upgrades.  Council thanks the residents and businesses impacted for their patience as these upgrades are undertaken.

These projects emphasise connecting key services, increasing the safety and consistency in the design of the areas.

Work is scheduled to commence next week (Monday 18 March), with the removal and installation of the concrete pathway at the Albert Street location. The Royal Hotel corner will undergo upgrades with exposed aggregate materials to match the existing streetscape pattern.

The project is funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland (W4Q) program which supports regional councils to undertake job-creating maintenance and minor infrastructure projects.

External funding programs like W4Q are an important opportunity for local councils to put money towards meaningful projects, allowing Council to free up operational funds for other important projects across the region’s communities.

This W4Q funding has allowed Council to invest in necessary core upgrades in Inglewood, providing an opportunity to improve safety in high foot-traffic areas.

Council is actively committed to its long term vision of identifying, maintaining, and improving its extensive infrastructure network throughout the Region.

A local contractor has been engaged to construct and upgrade the footpath areas.
